How to take care of wooden jewelry.

One question we get asked all of the time is “how do I take care of my wooden jewelry“?

While wood jewelry made by WHITL Woodworking is made to be ‘life proof’, and easy to wear without care. If you want to keep your jewelry looking like new for years to come all you need to do is follow these simple steps to clean and care for your wooden jewelry.

Step 1: Always store your wood jewelry in an airtight container.

Storing your wooden jewelry outside of contact with the around it helps the metal findings stay bright and new. If you prefer your jewelry to gain a patina over time, then store them in a jewelry box or out in the open. This will all a natural, worn patina to form.

Step 2: Polish the wood every six months.

While the finish on our wood is designed to stand the test of time and does not require any long term maintenance. If you want that ‘like new’ shine it is always a good idea to take a microfiber cloth and a small amount of natural wax such as beeswax. Rub the beeswax into the wood in a circular motion so the wood absorbs the wax.

Step 3: Finish by a final polish with a polishing cloth.

To keep your earrings in tip-top shape take a polishing cloth and quickly rub both sides of the earring. This will even out any blemishes from daily wear and keep your earrings looking new for a long time. You can do this step as necessary in conjunction with step 1 and 2 or by itself. So your jewelry will keep looking great!
